Sequel[]
Following the massive success that Avengers 2 brough in, Marvel confirmed a sequel that would be the final movie in Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and end the franchise. Marvel eventually confirmed the title of the film would be "The Avengers 3: the Civil War," and it would build off the events in Iron Man 4, Thor: the Burning Earth, Captain America: Rise of HYDRA, Ant-man (despite it being a prequel to Avengers 2), and Dr. Strange. Marvel confirmed a May 5, 2017 release date.
