Thunderbolts is the third film in the fifth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It stars William Hurt as General Thunderbolt Ross, Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow/Crossbones, Garret Hedlund as Robbie Baldwin/Penance, Dylan Minnette as Donnie Gill/Blizzard, Mickey Rourke as Ivan Vanko/Whiplash, Kurt Angle as David Cannon/Whirlwind, and Timothy Spall as George Tarleton/MODOC.
Plot Synopsis[]
After accidentally causing the deaths of two people during the final battle with Psionex in New Warriors 2, Robbie Baldwin, aka Speedball, has taken on the identity of Penance, to try and redeem himself for what he's done. He turns to SHIELD and volunteers for their Thunderbolts project, a team of superhumans seeking redemption, lead by General Thunderbolt Ross. Their mission... infiltrate the Advanced Idea Mechanics and take down their MODOC project, an evil plan to take over the Earth.
